Sunday Night at Titanyen, Haiti - Mission of Hope

It is Sunday night and we have been on a journey, both physical and spiritual.  Today we explored the compound of Mission of Hope, touring all the facilities and seeing the various programs they have that serve the people of Haiti.

Here is our team picture from the Kennedy airport as we prepared to leave for Haiti.

So many reasons not to return this year...but I'm so glad to be back in Haiti.  Amazing worship (for 2 quick hours!) with the minister including a little English with the Creole sermon.  Best of all has been reuniting with friends from the villages where we worked last year, with our translator friends, and with all of the children.  Dede, a young man Paul and I sponsored in the Fall to return to high school, found our group this afternoon as we walked through Leveque. Last year he endeared himself to me while persistently trying to sell me bracelets throughout the week.  Today he was all smiles, couldn't stop hugging and saying he can't believe we came back.  He was so grateful for the school help, and "escorted" me through the village.  He promises to be back in the morning...with his brother:)

 It is Saturday night and we have had an eventful day in our travels from Kennedy Airport to Port au Prince but bottom line is that we have all arrived safely, with our luggage intact. After finally navigating customs and immigration, we traveled on the old, familiar yellow school bus "the wheels on the bus go round and round...." To Mission of Hope. It took us quite awhile to unload all the suitcases full of supplies, gifts, clothing, baby diapers, formula, medical supplies and on and on. Hopewell was so very generous in this effort to support the people of Haiti.

Later,  we shared dinner at Mission of Hope With many other mission groups from all over the US and even some foreign countries.  It was close to 90 degrees when we landed but we Pennsylvanians were all loving it!

Looking forward to days ahead to see what God has in store for us. Over 125 people here this week and most are teens and young adults including 53 who are part of World Race. They visit countries around the world for 11 months, being the hands and feet of Christ. It is a beautiful thing to watch God at work in these young people. Www.theworldrace.org.

Tomorrow is church, Haitian style, open air and jumping with the Holy Spirit. More to follow.

Less than 24 hours

With less than 24 hours until we leave by school bus from Hopewell to JFK, I am giddy with anticipation.  I cannot wait to go back to Haiti to serve God with Mission of Hope alongside the beautiful Haitian people.  Our bags are indeed packed with many provisions from handmade dresses and britches to soccer balls, craft supplies, medicines and hundreds of t-shirts.  The majority of these items have been lovingly donated by Hopewell members, neighbors, and friends.

Our hearts are packed too - they are filled with a desire to help, to embrace, to play, to work, to pray, to walk alongside and to show God's love to everyone we meet.  We so appreciate your prayers as we strive to accomplish whatever it is that God has in store for us in Haiti.

Commence Packing

Nine days until Hopewell's team of nineteen departs for Haiti. Eleven suitcases/duffle bags full of "stuff" were packed Sunday prior to our worship service, then we were commissioned to do HIS work during our 10:55 service.
